Hori – PlayStation 5 Wireless Fighting Commander OCTA Pro – Black

Compatible game systems - Easy usage for HFA minor learning was very simple even though it has more capabilities than the original controller for PS5

It was nearly destroyed - The box was left on the very edge of my porch so it would get entirely soaked in the rain that had been falling all day...customer service was difficult to get a human on the phone and they said they wouldn't do anything

Great Fightpad - Works as expected. Using software to set up dpad sensitivity works well.

its the best controller - amazing controller for fighting games its too good

Not quite there, but in the right direction. - If the controller had a little more weight, shoulder buttons still with analog effects like the ps5 dual sense edge, hal effect sticks, along with a dpad that was also articulated with switches (like the face buttons), it would have made the controller perfect. This controller's concept makes sense, however, I've been using it frequently.

So much potential ruined by a bad d-pad - The key component of a 6-button fightpad is the d-pad. Unfortunately, that's exactly where this controller falls short. It's a shame, as basically everything else about this controller is good. 2.4Ghz wireless dongle w/ USB-C for use with PS5 or PC, the ability to still play wired for lagless competitive play, a downloadable tool for tweaking functionality, a good left analog stick + a mini right analog stick to still be able to play non-fighting games (e.g. shooters), microswitch buttons, and replaceable d-pad covers. If this had just shipped with a good d-pad it could have stood the test of time. It really doesn't make sense considering Hori produced one of the best d-pads ever in the original Hori Fighting Commander about a decade ago--and still to this very day has the same d-pad in their Nintendo Switch Hori Fighting Commander. I would beg Hori to re-release this controller with a d-pad PCB that can accept their original Hori Fighting Commander d-pad as a swappable/replaceable part.

Wonderful addition for fighting fans - As a fighting game enthusiast, I’ve tried my fair share of controllers, but the Hori PlayStation 5 Wireless Fighting Commander OCTA Pro has quickly become one of my favorites. Designed with competitive players in mind, this controller delivers a host of features that set it apart from standard controllers, particularly for fighting games. Build and Design The first thing that stands out is the ergonomic design. The controller feels well-balanced and comfortable in hand, especially during long gaming sessions. The octagonal gate on the D-pad is perfect for fighting game inputs, providing that precise control you need for executing special moves or combos. The layout is also well thought-out, with buttons that feel responsive and tactile, and the triggers are easy to reach. Performance The performance of the OCTA Pro is exceptional. It features a wireless connection with low latency, which is crucial in fast-paced fighting games. Whether you're playing something like Street Fighter or Tekken, the input response is spot-on. The controller supports both Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity, so you can use it wired for a more stable connection if needed. Customization Options One of the standout features of the OCTA Pro is the level of customization it offers. The controller includes a customizable button mapping function, allowing you to tailor the controls to your specific preferences. Additionally, the D-pad’s sensitivity can be adjusted, which is a game-changer for players who want to fine-tune their gameplay experience. Battery Life For a wireless controller, the battery life is impressive. I’ve been able to play for hours without worrying about recharging, and when it is time to charge, the USB-C port makes it quick and convenient. Final Thoughts Overall, the Hori PlayStation 5 Wireless Fighting Commander OCTA Pro is an excellent choice for any serious fighting game player. Its combination of responsive buttons, customizable features, and comfortable design makes it an ideal controller for anyone looking to level up their game.
